As a long-time commuter, and new bike racer, I spend a good deal of time every couple of years thinking about my helmet. While most helmet manufacturers recommend helmet replacement every 3-5 years, or after a crash, I replace mine about every 2 years. Sweat, water, bumps, drops; all of these things take away it’s “oomph” and I’d rather replace it early!

Heading into my first season of bike racing, I was thrilled that our team connected with Limar. A performance brand that’s held onto their Italian roots, my Limar is the lightest helmet I’ve owned and includes a built in light on the back. A high-quality helmet with added visibility? Yes, please!

As our team was getting ready to order, we had a lot of questions about fit and sizing. The helmet industry isn’t always the best when it comes to accommodating a variety of hair sizes and styles. The Limar crew sent multiple sizes to sample, ensuring that everyone could order the size that fit their noggin without worry. (Pro tip: helmet sizing is important! Make sure your helmet fits snuggly on your head without squeezing or sliding freely when tightened down. The chin straps are an easy adjustment to make after you ensure that the shell fits properly!)

Just when I thought it couldn’t get more awesome, Limar has a custom program that’s easy, fast, and will make your helmet, and your team, stand out at the starting line.

Haven’t yet heard of Limar here in the US? That’s okay. They’re new to the US! Through our work with them over the last several months, we have learned that they have a small yet mighty team ready to help us meet our needs. They have consistently gone above and beyond to help us feel supported, whether that means dialing in our helmet design or shipping us some extra helmets just in time for big events such as the Tour of America’s Dairyland. Keep an eye on them in years to come because they are sure to create some waves in the cycling community alongside us.
