Ride Bright

Our Ride Bright program is designed to increase ridership and safety for BIPOC (Black/Indigenous/People of Color) cyclists in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Each year, we partner with several organizations to provide the following:

  • Free lights, locks, and helmets for BIPOC cyclists
  • Free intro-to-bike-maintenance classes in a BIPOC centered environment
  • BIPOC community group rides

We cap off the season with our Ride Bright Block party in August. For this BIPOC-centered event, we partner with Major Taylor Cycling in Minnesota for a community group ride. La Tortilla food truck provides authentic Mexican food. BIPOC attendees receive free lights, locks, helmets, and water bottles from our sponsors. The Hub Bicycle Co-op provides a fix-a-flat class for attendees.

Thank you to the following partners who make this programming possible: Quality Bike Products, New Belgium, Kryptonite, and The Hub Bike Co-op.

Starting Line

Starting Line focuses on bringing more femme, trans, women, and non-binary riders into competitive cycling in a way that is structured, supportive, and offers tools that are often not available to new racers. This program prioritize BIPOCs riders, but is open to any FTW or non-binary rider based in the Twin Cities. This program provides the following:

  • a welcoming environment for first-time racers. The social aspect of this program focuses on a welcoming space for riders who may be curious about racing, but due to systemic acts of exclusion or other barriers, haven’t tried it out yet.
  • a basic training plan for riders who want to prepare for the racing season. The plan is created by a USA Cycling Level 2 coach and helps program participants feel prepared for race day.
  • race registration for the rider’s first competitive race. In addition to race registration, Stamina serves as the rider’s “team for the day” and provide community, a tent for rest and refueling, and a lot of encouragement.
  • mentorship during the first race (if desired). We have Stamina team members available to ride and race alongside program participants to provide guidance during their first race.

Our goal for this program is to get more FTW racers to the starting line of the race, provide an increased sense of belonging in the competitive cycling community, and eventually, a more diverse field of racers.

Thank you to our partners who support this initiative: Quality Bike Products, Machines for Freedom, Triple C Coaching, and Skratch Labs.
